"It is not a chair but a designer’s joke" is how Dutch designer Gerrit Rietveld described his Zig Zag chair, created in 1934 for a Dutch Department store in search of a design that could be easily mass-produced. Rietveld's creating is stunningly simple, comprised of just four pieces of wood for a striking silhouette.

Handmade by skilled craftspeople, with dovetail joinery, this sturdy side chair is constructed from a combination of Ash hardwood and fine Ash veneered composite timber (MDF) and is available in light and dark finishes.
